Breaking Of Bread
SPOKANE ASSEMBLY
Sundays
9:30 A.M. – 10:30 A.M.

On Lord’s Day morning we gather together to remember the Lord Jesus Christ as He requested us to do on the
night before He was crucified (Luke 22:19-20). We announce His death in the breaking of bread and drinking of
the cup (communion----I Corinthians 11:23-26). In I Corinthians 10:16 we read, “the cup of blessing which we
bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ”. Communion expresses the thought of fellowship or sharing
together. Therefore, one who breaks bread with us is not only remembering the Lord, but is also expressing
fellowship with us in teaching and position of gathering which we hold. In principle, all true believers are welcome
to take part with us, as long as they are not excluded for an unscriptural walk, immorality, evil doctrine, or
association with such things (see I Corinthians 5:11-13; II John 10:11). For the sake of Godly order, until we are
mutually assured that there are no hindrances or concerns to our fellowship, it is only fair, both toward others and
ourselves, that visitors should not partake of the bread and the wine (II Timothy 2:22). With the leading of the
Holy Spirit, any brother in fellowship may call out a hymn to be sung by all, read a scripture, pray or give thanks
for the bread and wine. We come together in the remembrance meeting not to hear a sermon, but to praise and
worship the Lord and to remember Him.
